The song is available on all Digital Platforms, Bandcamp and YouTube.
At the end of December 2021, the Belgrade duo Mad Mags released the dreamy pop a jewel “Human Heart”, and then, as expected, they went into hibernation. A year and a half later, they return with a completely longer mood and aggregate state. “Summer Girl” is the soundtrack to a backyard party, with cocktails and barbecue, a pool and lots of laughs. In some parallel world, it could be the sound of Everything but The Girl jamming with Darkwood Dub, while Steely Dan blasts from the loudspeakers from the yard next door.
– The song Summer Girl is a longing for the lightness of summer and a completely ordinary, but actually magical summer day that each of us hides in our memory. Her characters can be found in any part of the world, because the feeling of summer and summer vacation is something that we all love and that is universal – the feeling of freedom. Although it can be placed anywhere and imagined in any city, the song was inspired by one, probably not the most beautiful, nor the happiest in its history – but the only one – Belgrade, say Mad Mags.
Mad Mags was founded in 2017 in Belgrade and consists of Margareta Samoran and Boris Eftovski. Magi writes songs and sings (and is a Japanese teacher), while Boris is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, and a member of the American-Serbian incarnation of The Black Heart Procession and The Red Step (formerly Punishment for Ears). Mad Mags make music for their soul, freed from genre restrictions, time limits and space limitations, in their head it is music for dreaming and dancing. “Summer Girl” is their fourth single released, and look for “Human Heart“, “Wandering River” and “Yume / 夢 (Dream)” on YouTube.
